Waterbury, CT's Library Park will be the site for a citywide ethnic celebration, known as The Gathering honoring the diverse cultures and heritages of the people of Waterbury. The festival is Saturday, September 23, 2017 from noon until 7pm and will be the city's 5th annual celebration of music, food and dance from countries all around the world.
The Gathering is touted by city leaders to be most culturally diverse festival in New England. A parade through the streets of downtown Waterbury starts off the festivities at 11 am, and continues in the park with West African drummers, Irish step dancers, and entertainment from Greece, Brazil, China, Ghana, India, Mexico, Italy, Puerto Rico, Argentina, the Dominican Republic and dozens more cultures.
Admission and parking in downtown Waterbury is free, and food and drink from around the world will be sold by 80 different vendors.
